2010 Adidas Superstar Showcase Vol. 1

2011 – Mike Chalas, 6’0 Guard, West Broward HS – Chalas is a pass first point guard who has great vision and toughness. He is very unselfish and loves to dish the ball in transition, but rarely forces a pass. He is able to thread the needle with one-handed bounce passes. He also handles ball pressure very well and knocks down the open shot. Chalas showed above average speed and a willingness to defend. He has an understanding of his position and knows the role of a point guard.

Terrell Merritt

Terrell Merritt

2011 – Terral Merritt, 6’1 Guard, Orlando Christian Prep – Terral was the best point guard at the Adidas Superstar Showcase in Boca Raton. He is very competitive and always on the attack. Merritt is quick and gets to the basket at will, and also shows the athleticism to finish with contact. Although he has the ability to knock down an open 3, Terral’s Achilles heel is his perimeter shot, which has a low release point and is inconsistent. He showed good basketball IQ, and knows when to push the ball and when to slow down to run a half court set. Merritt is a nightmare in transition with his speed and willingness to pass, and will certainly be more comfortable and successful playing for an up-tempo team.

2011 – Toure Hunt, 6’0 Guard, Faith Academy – Extremely quick point guard with a good handle. Gives opposing guards problems by picking up full court every possession. Hunt is crafty and can create his own shot. Needs to improve shot selection and decision making.

2012 – Linwood Ross, 6’3 Guard/Forward, Westminster Academy – Athletic wing who plays above the rim and finishes well around the basket. Has a very high basketball IQ, understands the game and does the little things well. He displayed the ability to keep defenders honest with knocking down his share of trey balls. Ross can contribute offensively from multiple positions and showed a solid enough handle to breakdown wings off the bounce. He is an aggressive player and a willing passer. He is a disciplined player and is always under control. If Linwood develops a midrange game and buys into using his length and athleticism to become a ball-hawking defender, his stock will really improve with college coaches.

Joell James

Joell James

2012 – Joell James, 6’9 Power Forward/Center, Dwyer – James, who was the best prospect at the Adidas Super Showcase in Boca Raton was described by every scout there as a BEAST. The lefty big man has a big body and uses it to play very physical on offense and defense. As he continues to mature as a basketball player and develop his skills, he could become virtually unstoppable on the low block. James showed off his improved shooting stroke by knocking down numerous face up jumpers. He has also developed a soft touch around the rim to go with his athletic power game.

Malik Price-Martin

Malik Martin

2013 – Malik Price-Martin, 6’8 Small Forward, Monsignor Pace – Martin is a highly skilled forward for his size and age, and plays a very smooth game. He is long and athletic and used these tools to block shots, finish dunks, and rebound out of area. He continued to display the ability to knock down perimeter shots and beat defenders the same size off of the bounce. He tended to float around the perimeter too much, and avoid physical contact by settling for too many jumpers, but when he did attack the rim he did it with authority. Malik is clearly a high major prospect, but needs to spend time developing his body to handle physical play.

2012 – Ismaila Douda, 6’10 Center, Grandview Prep – “I.D.” has a good body that he uses to play aggressively and physically on offense. He mostly scored off dunks and offensive rebounds, and used his presence to altar shots in the paint. Douda attempted to use skilled moves in the post, and finished with mixed results. He would often times make a good move, and then be out of control and travel the next possession. To his credit, he is certainly trying to develop his post game. Ismalia has a high release point on his shot, and good rotation, but the results are inconsistent. Douda certainly has improved since the summer, and was one of the best prospects in camp.

Montell Williams

Montell Williams

2011 – Montell Williams, 6’0 Guard, Dwyer – Williams showed something at an exposure camp that you don’t see that often, and that was his willingness to make simple plays. Montell has all the tools to be an effective player at the next level. Williams has the body of a college guard and the quickness to compete with anyone. He is a tough nose defender and competes every play. Williams is a natural point guard with a tight handle, but is able to play off the ball and still be effective. One of his biggest strengths is his ability to run the pick and roll and his unselfishness.
