2010 Hoop Mountain Fall Showcase Recap Vol. 2

2011 – Dante Holmes, 6’4 Guard, Oldsmar Christian: Dante is a pit bull on the defensive end. He has great strength and speed that helps him lock up the opposing team’s best player. Holmes uses his strong body to slash to the lane and finish through contact and draw numerous “and one’s”. Holmes plays extremely hard at all times, never taking any type of plays off. Dante knocked down the occasional midrange jumper and open three, but must fix the mechanics in his shot to become more of a consistent shooter.

2013 – Thomas Horn, 6’1 Guard, Oldsmar Christian: Thomas Horn is an ELITE Shooter. He shot very high percentages from behind the arc all weekend long, and showed the ability to fill it up in a hurry from deep.  When teams caught on to his shooting ability, Thomas showed off a complete scoring ability with an array of one dribble pull ups and crafty floaters over taller defenders. Thomas must develop a more efficient handle as his career progresses. With added strength, height and speed, Horn could turn into a very promising sought after prospect.

2012 -  Ben Howez, 6’4 Guard, Agape: Agape’s leading scorer on the weekend has a wide array of scoring moves and ways of scoring the ball. He used everything from pro hops, floaters, to pull up jumpers, and even athletic finishes above the rim in transition. However, Ben is certainly to be considered more of a slasher than a shooter at this stage of his career, as his shooting from behind the arc is a bit streaky.

2012- Joell James, 6’10 Center, Dwyer: This weekend James really showed off his new array of aggressive post moves in the paint and the ability to hit the short jumper. James is very emotional on the court in a positive manner, always encouraging his teammates. Joell has a very big frame with long thick arms; he had numerous blocks in the paint and even was known for diving on the floor for loose balls. James struggles playing in up-tempo games at this point, but in time, with developing his body and conditioning, it could change. He is not a run and jump big, which is fine, because he is  very effective in the half court. James does a great job using his body to clear space and his length to aggressively snatch boards.  Joell currently has offers from South Carolina, Miami, Florida State, UMass, Xavier, and UCF. He is also receiving interest from Syracuse, Notre Dame, Penn St, WVU, and Alabama.

2011- Greg Louis, 6’8 Power Forward, Dwyer: Greg really impressed this weekend with his perimeter skills for his size. Louis showed that he has range out to three and can consistently hit the 18 footer. Defensively, Greg is a menace: with his length and athleticism not only is he extremely effective guarding the post, but with his lateral quickness he can even step out and guard some perimeter players. With the addition of a tight handle and some guard moves, you might see Greg move out to the 3 in college.  Louis is a face up four at this point, but defiantly should add a few post moves to his game to become more versatile.  Greg has offers from Tulsa, Tulane, SMU, James Madison, UPenn, UNF, and FAU, but is down to two schools: Tulane, and UPenn.

2011 – Kofi Josephs, 6’6 Guard, Arlington Country Day: Josephs is a big, long guard who displayed a great feel for the game, even though he has only been with the team and in the United States for less than a month. Kofi is originally from Birmingham, England and has the ability to be a steal for a program looking for a bigger guard who can shoot the ball. Joseph is a natural perimeter player, as he showed a good handle, nice shooting stroke, and ability to make the players around him better. He is currently playing a little in the post for ACD, but should move out to the wing full time as he gets acclimated with his new team. Not many teams know about Josephs, but they will very soon. Kofi currently is receiving interest from Arkansas and Georgia State.

2011 – Can Korkmaz, 6’2 Guard, Arlington Country Day: Can is originally from Turkey and has only been with the team and in the United States for a short period of time. Korkmaz is very aggressive on the offensive end and isn’t afraid to shoot the ball. Can is a crafty guard with a high basketball IQ. He showed a high skill level and an ability to finish with both hands in the paint. Korkmaz has to improve laterally, and on the defensive end, but has plenty of time to do that while he is at ACD. Can has an offer from Minnesota, and is receiving interest from Boston College, DePaul and N.C. State.

2012 – Carlos Morris, 6’5 Guard, Arlington Country Day: Morris is long and very aggressive on the offensive end. Carlos has the ability to be a play maker and a game changer at any time because of his deep range and ability to shoot the basketball. Morris tends to float around the perimeter and settle for three’s too often, but if he develops a midrange game and buys into attacking the rim he could become an efficient score. One thing is certain, Carlos Morris has a lot of potential and his best basketball days are ahead of him. He is currently drawing interest from High Point, Cincinnati, Miami, Missouri, Georgia and Georgia State.
