Adonis Burbage flew a bit under the radar this summer. He played well for the Showtime Ballers and was a good third option behind point guard Shane Larkin and wing guard Robert Brown.
Like any true baller, Burbage wants to be the best he can be and prove himself against the best. So this fall, the 6’4 junior wing has participated in both the Nike Team Florida Workout and the Adidas Superstar Showcase and will take part in the Breakdown Battle for the Rankings this weekend. At both the Nike and Adidas events he was identified as a standout performer by national media outlets such as Scout, Rivals, and Prepstars.
“Both camps were very good”, said Burbage. “I felt like I learned a little bit at each skill station and during the games I was able to show my ability to play multiple positions. At Nike I felt like I scored well playing off the ball at the two and the three spots and at Adidas I got the opportunity to play some point guard. Both camps offered great competition so doing well at each has increased my confidence.”
Correspondingly, his recruitment has increased as well. Right after July, Burbage was hearing from Jacksonville, Furman, and Elon. After his performances this fall, schools such as Davidson, Houston, and East Carolina have started to get involved.
“It’s nice to get some additional notice”, said Burbage. “I’m looking for a solid academic environment as well as a coaching staff that I can cultivate a relationship with.”
Burbage has changed schools for the coming season. He has moved from Orlando Timber Creek to Orlando Christian Prep. With a 3.3 GPA going into his junior season, Burbage is on track to qualify.
