Jay Bowie Makes His College Decision

Jay Bowie,a 6’4 forward from Tampa Prep, capped off a successful senior season by making his dream come true by committing to Marist, a division one school in the MAAC on Wednesday.

Bowie led Tampa Prep to an overall record of 25-5, and led the Terrapins to the 2A state championship until falling to nationally ranked Providence Christian in the finals. Additionally, Jay averaged a double-double this season for Tampa Prep by scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds per game.

His success on the court and in the classroom (3.7GPA) helped Jay earn offers from Marist and Bethune-Cookman, while also receiving interest from North Florida, Sacred Heart, and Quinnipiac.

Jay visited Marist on March 11th and had this to say about why he choose Marist over the other schools pursuing him:“I liked that the university was good in academics and it seemed like the right fit for me. I also I have the chance to do something special there.”
