Richie Edwards
After much anticipation, Richie Edwards decision is finally in. Edwards, a 6’7 wing from Hillsborough Community College, averaged 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals last year for the Hawks, who finished the season with a record of 15-15. Richie also played at Lakeland High School, earning the Ledger Player of the Year his senior season after leading Lakeland to the regional finals, while averaging 17.7 points and 9.5 rebounds. After trimming his list down to Canisius, Stetson, UNC Wilmington and Valpo, Richie decided to verbally commit to Valparaiso University.
Even though Richie took only one official visit, and it being to Valpo, he was quoted in saying, “Valpo gives me a great opportunity to play right away in a great up in coming conference.” Edwards gives Coach Hormer Drew and the Valparasio Crusaders a very versatile player, being able to play both forward positions.
“I chose to commit to Valpo because not only did I feel the most comfortable with the players, but I felt very comfortable with the entire coaching staff.”
