Ugo Okam Is Headed Ivy League

Ugo Okam, a 7’0, 245 pound senior center who averaged 6ppg for Montverde Academy last season has made his college decision and has announced he will be attending Harvard University. Okam, who is originally from Nigeria, Africa, came to Montverde Academy with goals to be a successful student-athlete, and he will have that opportunity playing in the Ivy League. Ugo will be the tallest player on Harvard’s roster next year, and could be an impact as a freshman on the defensive end for Tommy Amaker.

Montverde Academy Head Coach Kevin Sutton had this to say about Ugo Okam deciding on Harvard University – “This is exciting news for Ugo Okam, announcing he will be attending Harvard University. It is also very exciting news for Montverde Academy as a school to have a student accepted to Harvard University. Over the last three years Ogo Okam has improved tremendously to put himself in the position to earn an opportunity to attend Harvard University. Ugo has set lofty goals for himself prior to leaving Africa to come to the United States (Montverde Academy) and with him announcing to attend Harvard University he has reached those lofty goals. Coach Amaker and his staff did a tremendous job recruiting Ugo. Ugo’s final choices were Harvard and Penn.”

Ugo Okam on why he committed to Harvard University – “I chose Harvard because I’ll easily fit into their system, and the coaching staff is committed to helping me get better on and off the court.”
