Will Yeguete – Allow Me To Introduce Myself

French import, Will Yeguete, a 6’7, 205 pound senior forward from Florida Air Academy, is gaining college attention after a very successful year in the states.

Yeguete averaged 12ppg, and 10rpg for Florida Air Academy while helping them advance to the regional finals and end with an impressive 24-1 record. He also helped Nike Team Florida win the Wallace Prather Tournament and reach the final four of the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, the Rumble in the Bronx and the Nike Peach Jam.

Tom Topping, coach of Nike Team Florida, related that “Will reminds me of a cross between Corey Brewer and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. He is a terrific defender and rebounder and improves his perimeter skills daily. He is very aggressive and a strong finisher around the rim.”

His stellar play, divided between his high school team and travel team, has programs such as Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Central Florida, North Florida, Charleston and Murray State calling.

Although Yeguete has yet to receive his first official offer, he knows what he is looking for in a college program: “I want to go to a good school with good academics. I am willing to go anywhere: distance is not a problem for me. I am looking for a place where I can get playing time early in my career.”

IU has good academics, IU will offer much playing time early on, on a young and improving team. IU provides a good college town on one hand and national exposure with many games on CBS and ESPN. IU has a brand new facility focused on basketball and skill building. IU is hopefully the destination for Will Yeguete.

I agree. IU is a great place for Will. It also has an excellent international community on campus and on IU’s team. Several current and previous players from all around the world. He will feel very comfortable and be challenged in the classroom and on the court.
